Best Cheap Places to Eat in San Francisco
Great Food, Great Prices In the City By the Bay
A look at the best cheap places to eat in San Francisco.
Growing up in San Francisco was a culinary journey for me that has never ended and always brings new surprises. Having so much ethnic diversity in one city has allowed foodies like myself to enjoy the various cuisines they offer at reasonable prices every day. Here are a few of my favorites.
For the basic hamburger craving I tend to skip the usual fast food chains and head over to Clement street for lunch at Bill's Place. The casual atmosphere and almost tacky motif contrast the fact that you will find no better burgers in San Francisco. Menu items are named for local celebrities and come in many variations including Mexican, blue-cheese, and a wide selection of cheeses. The onion rings and milk shakes are also phenomenal and the prices are cheap.

The best pizza at an everyday-Joe price is without a doubt Uncle Vito's on Bush street in downtown San Francisco. I like the sourdough crust thin slices but a variety of pies with a wide array of toppings are offered as well as other Italian entrees.
For the best Mexican food on a shoestring budget cruise over to Taqueria Cancun on Mission street (between 18th & 19th).
The awesome delicious burritos and hand-made salsa will make a believer out of any foodie with a spicy palate and the prices are reasonable.
There are many Chinese take-out restaurants in San Francisco but for the quality and the price I recommend Yum Yum Hunan on Divisadero St in Pacific Heights. The food is fresh, the Spicy Mandarin Eggplant is divine and the price is just right. An honorable mention goes to the Szechuan beef.
Whether you live in San Francisco or are just in town for a visit give these places a try, you won't be disappointed in either the great food or the reasonable prices!
